Late 1940s Silk French Couture Wedding Dress

This elegant dress was designed by Yuki for British store Rembrandt during the 1970s. Made in the UK, it is crafted from a high quality crepe cloth in a rich cream hue. This dress celebrates Yuki’s canny tailoring; his signature cut was to craft panels of full circles which were then draped. This was to create maximum fullness with no seams, and his designs - like this one - often formed flamboyant batwing sleeves which were cinched by gathered waists. This midi-gown has a pleated, ruffled collar and has an off-centre fastening at the bust, secured with snap closures, which gives way to a soft pleat down the front.
