Psychedelic long dress in printed organza by Nina Ricci, directed by Gérard Pipart, from the 1973 collection. Dress with curved bustier, long puffed sleeves and boat neckline trimmed with black silk bias binding and echoed at the buttoned cuffs and bottom of the skirt. Back zip fastening. Skirt with large bottom and white nylon underskirt. The white organza fabric features large circles with multicoloured polka dots in a random pattern. White nylon bodice lining and label indicating Nina Ricci Boutique Paris, Made in France. No visible flaws apart from armpit rings and a small, barely visible ring on the skirt (see last three photos), the only flaws to be noted. Good general condition in terms of colour and conservation. Dimensions: Equivalent size 36 France. Height 135 cm, shoulders 32 cm, sleeves 69 cm, chest 82 cm, waist 66 cm, hips 90-94 cm.
Gérard Pipart is a famous French fashion designer who, after working for Chloé, was responsible for Nina Ricci for 35 years from 1963 onwards, following the departure of Jules François Crahay. Gérard Pipart left his mark on the style of this Parisian luxury house, combining beautiful fabrics, romantic draperies and a sense of cut to create a graceful, sophisticated and natural femininity. The Nina Ricci haute boutique label remained one of the Parisian musts for luxury ready-to-wear in the 1980s and 1990s.
