A rare very special evening gown designed by Italian designer Peter Langner. Purchased at Saks Fifth Avenue, NY. The dress is titled "The Kiss" and the fully hand beaded dress was obvious inspired by the legendary painting by Gustav Klimt. Marked size 10. It is a work of art entirely beaded by hand! The fit and drape of this gown is done by a master of his craft. Slight train on back. Double thin spaghetti staps back. It has a double lining. One layer organza for body and a silk like layer. PETER LANGNER For 25 years, the name Peter Langner has been synonymous with excellence, imagination, and refinement. THE DESIGNER At the young age of twenty-four Peter Langner left his home in Hanover Germany to attend school in Paris at the world renowned Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale to follow his passion to become a great couturier. Completing his studies with distinction, he went directly to work and learn from the masters at the famous design houses of Christian Dior, Emanuel Ungaro, Guy LaRoche and Christian Lacroix. In 1991, Peter Langner opened his own workroom in Rome. With the movement of fashion, Peter opened a showroom in Milan and by 2015; He had moved his headquarters and workroom to Milan as well. TRUE MEANING OF MADE IN ITALY Peter Langner has assembled an amazing staff of artisans who have the rare capability to turn into reality Peter’s designs using their master skills. Every dress designed, sewn and beaded in the workroom in Milan uses the most exceptional fabrics from Italy and France as well as the finest crystals. Each cutter, seamstress and embroider are asked daily to stretch their skills to push forward into a new dimension. The team daily attempts new forms of fabric manipulation or even creating their own sequins; a continuous search for something new, to go beyond the conventional. In doing so, Peter Langner’s artisans never relinquish the goal of perfection or abandon their commitment to the highest quality. The KISS: Inspiration of the dress: The "The Kiss" painting is a late 19th- and early 20th-century oil-on-canvas piece by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, who created it between 1907 and 1908 during his "Golden Period". The work is known for its extensive use of gold leaf, intricate patterns, and symbolic elements, and it currently hangs in the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere in Vienna. Artist and style Gustav Klimt: Born in 1862, Klimt was a founder of the Vienna Secession movement, which aimed to break away from traditional artistic norms. "Golden Period": The painting is the culmination of his "Golden Period," where he incorporated gold leaf, likely inspired by his father's work as a goldsmith and his travels to see Byzantine mosaics. Art Nouveau: The work is a masterpiece of the Vienna Secession, a form of Art Nouveau characterized by organic shapes, flowing lines, and decorative patterns. The painting itself Subject: The painting depicts a couple embracing on the edge of a flowery meadow, with the man's strong form cloaked in rectangular patterns and the woman in swirling, circular ones. Technique: Klimt covered the canvas with gold leaf and then painted over it, creating a rich, textured, and almost three-dimensional surface. He used eight different types of gold to create the effect. Symbolism: While often seen as a purely romantic scene, the painting has been interpreted in various ways, including as a symbol of love and fulfillment, a representation of the human life cycle, and an exploration of universal experiences.
