About the Item

Cinched in the right places and billowing with dramatic fashion ... this Rose Taft Couture evening dress depicts a dynamic combination of traditional plaid with a ballroom style. The strapless design zips and snaps at the back with a decorative row of buttons and presents the appearance of two pieces though it is one fabulous package. The ruched bodice is supported by boning and sports a neckline emphasized by points over the bust. The full skirt has a lining with banding at the hem and a partial crinoline for adding volume ... and a little swish! The plaid fabric is 100% silk, in shades of brown, dove gray and creme, with the stiffness and sheen of taffeta and the appearance of dupioni or raw silk complete with natural texture and imperfections. This dress offers the elegance of a ball gown yet the relaxed style of an effortless look. It would be a great alternative as wedding party attire for an outdoor or countryside wedding. CONDITION The dress is in good condition and was probably worn once. On the interior lining at the bust it appears as if lingerie straps were removed and there are some hand sewn stitches on each side of the point that might indicate an alteration though the dress does not otherwise appear altered ... please see photograph 14. There are natural imperfections to the texture of the silk though there appears to be more of a pull in one area that runs from seam to seam and is shown in photograph 15. SIZING MEASUREMENTS The size is not marked though the dress best fits a size 6 and perhaps a size 8 with attention to the following measurements. For visual reference, the dress in the photographs is a size 4 and the dress was too large to provide a proper cinched fit in the bodice. Condition:
Wear consistent with age and use. Altered (not by designer). There are some hand sewn stitches on the interior of the bodice that might indicate an alteration though it is not apparent. There is a pull in the fabric that gets lost in the volume of the skirt. Please see description for details.
