SADIE NEMSER c.1920’s Art Deco Silk Beaded Embroidered Cubist Flapper Couture Dress Circa: 1920’s Label(s): Nemser Original Model Style: Drop waist dress Color(s): Shades of navy blue, dark pink and tan Lined: Yes Unmarked Fabric Content: Silk Additional Details / Inclusions: From Sadie Nemser, an acclaimed designer who created Grace Coolidge's 1923 gown and sold her gowns in her own upscale New York City department stores. Her business was family owned and each member specialized in different areas of her design work. These gowns are best known for intricate beading and fine detail embroidery. In July of 1928, Sadie and her husband traveled to Paris as the premier delegates for the Congress of Garment Retailers of America where Mr. Nemser was awarded the French National Legion of Honor for their efforts to bring harmony between the French and American garment industries. Also, Ms. Nemser was a front runner in cubist dress design. A drop waist dress with a scoop neckline; sheer long sleeves; drop waist; complimenting bead work and embroidery detailing on front yoke, back yoke and hem; front pleated detailing; complimenting bead work on pink background at waistline and cuffs; snap closure on the back left side at neckline and snap closure at cuffs.
