About the Item
C. 1960s Ted Lapidus dress fashioned of black devoré velvet on a chiffon ground, the floral-design velvet enhanced with black sparkles that catch the light. Stylewise, the dress features and scoop neck with round self buttons down the front that lead to a gathered, blouson hipline and a tapered skirt. The three-quarter-length full sleeves are gathered from the neckline and at the narrow buttoned cuffs. A copper colored lining to the skirt has possibly been added and can easily be removed.
Ted Lapidus was an influential French designer for both women and men during the 1960s and '70s, when his designs were worn by prominent cultural figures like John Lennon and Brigitte Bardot.
