About the Item
Textile Artist Marion Clayden was the source for the tie dye fabrics used for costumes and sets for the rock musical Hair in the 1960's. She began her fashion career in the late 1970's after selling her fabrics to Giorgio di Sant Angelo and Mary McFadden for their collections. She was the subject of an exhibit at the Fashion and Textile Museum in London and her work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum, LACMA, the DeYoung and the Victoria and Albert in London.
As a textile artist Marion Clayden has created this piece with many different patterns and shades of brown, with a touch of sparkle thrown in for added glamour. The sleeves, the center front and the hemline incorporate a lighter shade of brown into their design. There is an ornate buckle at the center front and the coat/dress is fully lined in matching silk. It is in excellent condition and marked a size Medium/Large so please check the measurements.
