Vintage 1920 s Yellow Silk Beaded Dress UK 6-8 US 2-4

About the Item

Full of opulent original details, rendered in the most luxurious fashion, this rare 1920's piece is a beauty to behold and never again find. The rounded neckline of the dress is framed by pipped edgings and accented by a decorative beaded neckline, in a trailing floral design, showcasing silver glass beads, pearlescent beads and clear glass bugle beads. The sleeveless cut of the dress, draws the eye to the elegant straight line cut of the bodice, which draws in along the side seam with hook and eye fastenings. The bodice is decorated with trailing floral beadwork, which radiates at a diagonal angle. The slightly dropped waist of the dress is decorated with a scalloped beaded border, which sets off the wonderful joining scalloped seam of the top of the skirt-line. The truly mesmerising skirt, boasts beaded floral patterns situated at midway height, drawing the eye to the incredible handkerchief cut hemline, which is accented by petal scalloped details, edged with French hem stitches. This allows for the magnificent drape of the skirt, which hangs lower along the sides of the dress. We feel like the silk of this dress is sturdy enough to carry on its life, although the cosmetic part of the dress is in fair condition. The scalloped hemline of the dress has a scattering of age marks throughout. Some of the scalloped details have stitches that have come away leaving the hemline with raw edges and some very small tears to the silk edgings. The skirt of the dress has age marks and wear marks to the silk throughout. There is beadwork missing from the skirt, mainly where there was once pearlescent beads. Some of these have been replaced but there are gaps to some of the patterns. There are darker marks around the beaded embellishments throughout the dress. Beadwork missing from the scalloped waistline and along the neckline and bodice. A small pin sized hole along the left hand side yoke. A scattering of light surface scratches and holes to the skirt-line along the back of the dress. ( These are well concealed within the drape of the skirt-line) There are age marks throughout this dress. This dress has been lovingly washed and restored to the best of our capabilities. It is wearable and as you can see still in incredible condition, and when the dress is worn, the blemishes aforementioned are not overly apparent. This dress has been priced accordingly and should only be purchased by someone who has full understanding of the wearability of this piece.
