A marvel to behold, this original 1930's vintage dress, rendered in a sumptuous shade of ocean blue silk with painted accented and rayon details, is just the piece to add to your vintage collection. The halter neck design of the dress, boasts a simple bow detail along the nape, which joins the wide straps which frame the sweetheart cut of the neckline. The bust-line is decorated with two large ivory rayon clam shell appliqués, which boast running stitch details along the ridges of the shells. The fitted bodice, draws the eye to the tailored waistline. The elegant silhouette of the skirt-line is accented by painted scale details, in shades of blue and soft pink along the front of the dress. The mermaid cut of the skirt, flares out softly along the baseline, creating an iconic mermaid cut, to this mermaid inspired dress. Measurements of the Dress Armpit to Armpit: up to 36 inches Neckline to Hem: 56 inches Waist: 28 inches Hips: up to 39 inches Size:UK 10 US 6 Closures: This dress fastens along the back with a hook and eye and a 9.5 inch metal zip Condition: This dress is in near perfect vintage condition. Light and natural surface scratches to the silk along the skirt-line. The stylised bow fastening along the nape appears to have been extended, this can be made smaller to fit the require nape to chest measurement. A small paint mark along the base of the left hand side shell. Gentle age marks along the skirt, these are well concealed within the lustre of the silk and are very faint. Light scratches to the silk along the bottom part of the hemline, with a few very small pin holes where stitches appear to have once been. Please keep in mind that this dress was altered in the 1930's to become a mermaid dress and so has been lovingly re-design by its original owner. These minor details are not apparent when the dress is being worn and only apparent upon very close inspection. Please refer to the photographs, as they form part of the condition report.
