A truly rare piece to behold, this original late 1940's grey silk Pauline Trigère dress, fully embellished with silver claw set rhinestones, is the perfect statement piece to add to your vintage couture collection. The elegant and sculptural front slit neckline is framed by a tiered panel pointed end collar, which sits up-right along the neck, and frames the décolletage with a border of two sewn pleats. The strong shoulder line, is accented by internal shoulder pads, which allow for the edges of the sleeves to sit in a straight edge along the extremities of the shoulders. The fitted and tailored bodice is accented by a central modesty panel which creates a straight line cut along the décolletage. The bodice is accented by tailored darts that run up from the waistline to below the bust. The cinched in waistline, draws the eye to the simple silhouette of the skirt, which is accented by the double pleats that run either side of the central skirt panel, creating the illusion of a wide central pleated panel. The back of the bodice features matching double sewn pleats, above a simple grey silk panel, creating an inverted pleat along the backline. Finished with matching running pleats along the centre back of the skirt and a small slit along the hemline, this incredible dress showcases the breathtaking tailoring and designs of the iconic Pauline Trigère. This dress is lined in pale blue rayon along the hemline, and fine cotton internally. Label: Trigère, New York. Measurements of the Dress Armpit to Armpit: 36 inches Shoulder to Hem: 43.5 inches Neckline to end of sleeve: 9.5 inches Waist: up to 26 inches Hips: up to 38 inches Size:UK 8 US 4 Closures: This dress fastens along the side seam with a 15 inch metal zip and a hook and loop. Condition: This dress is in good but not perfect condition.There is an age mark along the central part of the modesty panel, this is well concealed by the framing pleats. Gentle discolouration and yellowing along the armpits of the dress. A small age mark along the left hand side of the bodice near the side seam. An age mark along the centre front of the skirt-line above the hemline along the double pleat features. A pin sized age mark along the back left hand side of the hemline. Very light colour variation to the grey silk along the shoulder-lines and yokes of the bodice. Age marks are apparent along the internal cotton lining and along the internal part of the neckline. Very gentle colour variation to the silk throughout.These details, are not overly apparent when the dress is being worn, and only noticeable upon close inspection. Please refer to the photographs as they form part of the condition report. Fabric: Silk, claw set rhinestones, cotton lining, rayon lining.
