About the Item

Rendered in the softest shade of pistachio coloured tulle and decorated with chartreuse green faille ribbon, this original 1950's tulle dress is the perfect piece for that special occasion. The sweetheart strapless neckline of the dress is accented by a central seam which runs along the front of the bust-line, from which pleated tulle radiates across the bust to the front and back of the dress. The fitted waistline, is set off by chartreuse coloured ribbons which pleat and join the front of the dress in two decorative bows. The boned and fitted bodice, sets off the contrasting tulle skirt, which boasts two layers of pistachio tulle and is accented by two tiered layers of tulle along each hip-line, creating a bustle design to either side of the skirt-line. Finished with a pistachio coloured lining along the skirt-line and bodice. This dress has been photographed with a medium petticoat for added volume. This is not included within the listing. Label: Will Steinman Measurements of the Dress Armpit to Armpit: up to 34 inches Top of bodice to Hem: 45 inches Waist: up to 24 inches Hips: 46 inches Size: UK 6 US 2 Closures: This dress fastens along the side seam with a 13.5 inch metal zip and a hook and eye and has two press studs along the back of the waistline which allow for the tulle bustle to conceal the zip fastening. Condition: This dress is in good vintage condition externally but well loved condition internally. The faille bow details along the front and back of the bodice have faded with time and have got an ombré effect to the colour, some areas appear lighter than others. The rayon lining along the skirt has scattered darker coloured age marks throughout. There is an age mark along the back of the ribbon area of the bodice. The internal bodice and boning area of the dress is covered in age marks and yellowing. This is not apparent when the dress is being worn as it is all internal These minor details are not apparent when the dress is being worn, and only noticeable under closer inspection.
