A breathtaking, museum quality Ret Turner couture gown custom made for the famous American icon, Diana Ross. Not only does this one-of-a-kind treasure come with official certificate of authenticity, we even found the design sketch for Diana Ross! Ret Turner was a well-known American wardrobe and costume designer best known for his collaborations with Bob Mackie and his work with such stars like Dolly Parton, Diana Ross and Cher. Turner was also nominated for record of 23 Emmys; winning a total of 5 times! This glamourous gown is truly a perfect example of his artistry. Entirely covered by alternating diagonal bands of shimmering silver and white sequins, the fabric itself is sensational. A sheer illusion front is met by chandelier-type "disco-ball" pendants hang from each dolman sleeve. The seductive bias-cut long asymmetrical train finish this showstopper off with the perfect diva vibe. Ret Turner once said, "Back then it was all so spectacular. The costumes added an interesting element to the show. People now feel they get in the way of the show and I can understand that. That's why they don't do them anymore." These early American costume designer gowns are rare, as they were not mass produced and were incredibly expensive to make. This is such a beautiful museum worthy piece of fashion and celebrity history that will instantly become a favorite in your collection.
