A gorgeous and iconic Zandra Rhodes designer hand painted silk-chiffon dress dating back to her 1985 collection. Zandra herself stated, "The Manhattan dress highlights my favored relationship between shape and print; a theme present throughout so many of my designs". Rhodes was one of the British designers who put London at the forefront of the international fashion scene in the 1970's and 1980's. Her designs are considered creative statements, dramatic but graceful, bold but feminine. Museum quality wearable art. This rare dress is fashioned from double layered beaded and hand painted ivory semi-sheer silk chiffon of the highest quality. Matching under-slip included. Pearl beads and sparkling rhinestones give the dress so much depth and texture. The draped handkerchief bodice design with 3/4-length sleeves frame the print beautifully. The unique novelty, hand painted in royal blue, features The Chrysler and Empire State Building in Manhattan. The same gorgeous handkerchief scallop repeating at the hemline.
