This arresting 1980s black asymmetrical jacket by Catherine Walker for The Chelsea Design Company is in excellent condition and is a statement piece of exceptional quality. The black sateen fabric is embossed with a climbing rose motif and has a luxurious and subtle feminine feel in contrast to the dynamic power-dressing aesthetic. Walker, a favourite of Diana Princess Of Wales, is celebrated for her impeccable tailoring and ability to produce garments that are effortlessly both refined and dramatic. The bold decision to expose the left shoulder on an otherwise formal piece of attire is a wonderful example of this. The jacket is skilfully tailored at the waist to suit an hourglass figure and exudes style and class. The central button stand showcases 4 large rounded gold buttons with a further 2 on the single sleeve.
In superb vintage condition and marked a UK 12, this runs a little small compared to modern sizing so would best suit US size 4-6, UK size 8-10.
