About the Item
A member of the acclaimed design collective, the Antwerp Six, Dries Van Noten is a Belgian designer that cut his teeth on an aesthetic of style well ahead of his time. Described as one of the most “cerebral designers” by the New York Times, Van Noten blends notes of classic fine art, nature, and philosophy into high quality wearable masterpieces. Hailing from the Spring 2008 runway, this boldly colored silk jacket offers a Japanese kimono inspiration. Cleanly defined florals of midnight blue, baby blue, and spring green outlined in orange on a black ground contrast the fiery yellow of the main portions of the jacket with impressions of violet blossoms. A mildly tailored fit shapes the jacket by darts at the waist. Narrow shoulders soften the jacket while a mock shawl collar falls to the bust as a tie closure to add a final touch of femininity to the design. This tie can be worn in a loose bow or cinched tighter for a more contoured silhouette. Vibrantly eye-catching, this jacket is an elevating addition that can be styled into your daily, cocktail, or business wardrobes. It can be seen on that season’s runway in the images above.
At the waist, this jacket has two large, rectangular flapped pockets. Fully lined in a white silk, this jacket had been professionally eco dry cleaned and pressed.
