A very simple and chic black lace cardigan jacket by designer Josie Natori. The jacket is made of European fine lace but it is perfectly cut with hidden seems to form a sexy modern fit. The jacket is shown closed with a pin for the photos to show fit, but the jacket can be worn open or even belted with a satin ribbon or evening belt. Jacket is made in the USA of European lace and marked size 10.
Josie Natori Bio:
Josie Natori is a Filipino-American fashion designer, founder, and CEO of The Natori Company, a global lifestyle brand. Born Josefina Almeda Cruz in the Philippines in 1947, she initially pursued a career in business, becoming the first female vice president of corporate finance at Merrill Lynch. She transitioned to fashion in 1977 after a suggestion to lengthen blouses from the Philippines into nightshirts, leading to the launch of her lingerie and apparel company.
Early life and education: Born Josefina Almeda Cruz in the Philippines in 1947, she moved to the United States to attend Manhattanville College. She has been playing the piano since she was four years old.
Corporate career: Natori began her career in the corporate world and became the first female vice president in corporate finance at Merrill Lynch.
Founding The Natori Company: In 1977, she ventured into fashion after a buyer at Bloomingdale's suggested she turn embroidered blouses from her native Philippines into longer nightshirts. This evolved into The Natori Company, which now includes lingerie, sleepwear, loungewear, ready-to-wear, and home goods.
Business philosophy: Her business is based on an "East-West mix" of culture and design, and she often draws inspiration from her Filipino heritage.
Awards and recognition: Natori has received numerous accolades, including the Order of Lakandula from the President of the Philippines, the Humanitarian Award from Fashion Group International, and the "Peopling of America" Award from the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation. She was also appointed as a commissioner on the White House Conference on Small Business.
Philanthropy and other roles: She is the chairman of the Asian Cultural Council, an organization dedicated to supporting artists through grants and cultural exchange programs.
