Maria Monaci Gallenga 1920's gauffered black silk velvet evening jacket. Stenciled with a Medieval foliate motif and Renaissance palmettes in signature silver and gold leaf. Wrap style with velvet collar and Chinese inspired frog velvet buttons. Unlined.

Gallengas signature metallic stenciling never tarnished or flaked because it was applied with a special method devised by her husband, a professor at the University of Rome. With detailed Gothic and Medieval motifs, she would use up to nine tones of gold and silver in these motifs.
