About the Item

Despite being called a "blouse" when introduced in 1905, the Levi's 506XX Type 1 was purpose-built for working men: the double heavy, extra strong, unsanforized denim could withstand abuse, while the sewn-down double front pleats could be removed to grow as the owner did. Though its most iconic feature--the rear silver prong buckle--was slightly changed in 1944, the jacket itself remained the official symbol of tough guys and rebels. This ultra-rare early model, owned by a fine artist, is in near mint condition notwithstanding the addition of a few well-placed paint splotches on the sleeves, pocket and back. We think they only make it cooler. Heavyweight denim point collar jacket with left buttoning flap pocket and petite double pleats on either side of lapel; tapered sleeves with button cuffs and riveted forearms. Front and rear horizontal yoke; riveted, adjustable silver prong strap at rear center waist. 5 button front closure; unlined. fabric: heavyweight cotton denim noteworthy: machine wash in cool water; tumble dry alterations: none condition: very good with artistic paint splotches on sleeves, right cuff and center back; interior label has been removed measurements: neckline circumference: 18” (buttoned to throat) collar: 3” at widest shoulders: 16 ¼” bust: 37” (closed) sleeve: 22” from shoulder, 20” from underarm (including 1 ¾” cuff) sleeve circumference: 16 ½” at upper arm, 9” at cuff waist: 34” length: 20” from shoulder, 12” from underarm, 21 ¾” from center rear neck sweep: 32” label: Levi Strauss (inside label has been removed but red tab tag is intact) size: no size tag present; comparable to modern size small - medium
