About the Item
This jacket was made from a Crazy Quilt Dating to the early 20th century. In the 1970's it was made into a jacket and belonged to a stylish woman living in NYC. She added patches and beadwork to the jacket further embellishing the work of the original quilter. The jacket has a Nehru collar, popular in the 1970's and three hooks and eyes for closure. It is hand sewn and appliqued with so many different fabrics and ornaments that it could be a textile textbook. Most of the pieces are in excellent condition, a few of the finer silk pieces have some splits or fraying. This might be an area where you could add your own patch to the original quiltmakers work. The charm of this piece outweighs the minor flaws. The lining of the coat is the back of the quilt, a deep green cotton. This handmade, homemade garment has no size tag so please check the measurements below.
