About the Item

Thank goodness Gene Berk realized his passion for fashion in the 1960's. He intended to pursue a career in law but instead focused his talents on design eventually creating the label Paganne that specialized in unique mod prints reminiscent of fellow designers Emilio Pucci and Averardo Bessi. This fun two piece set takes lounge wear to a whole new level with a vibrant fabric that mixes geometrics and old world imagery along with the Paganne name incorporated into the design. The baby-doll style top has a high rise neckline and smock silhouette with elasticized empire bust, zipper in back and bell sleeves. The wide leg high rise pants also zip in the back. Both pieces are an easy care nylon that looks, feels and drapes like silk jersey. The earth tone colors are seasonless and include shades of red, brown, coral, white and black. Originally retailed at Saks Fifth Avenue. CONDITION At first glance the set appears to be in good condition though there are a couple of issues worth mentioning. There is a small hole at the front of the top near a side seam, please see photograph 14. It is difficult to see due to the volume of fabric. There is also a hole on the inside of the waistband near the hook closure and was probably caused by the hook, please see photograph 13. It is not visible when wearing. There is a minor snag on the front of the top which caused a little pilling, please see photograph 15. SIZING MEASUREMENTS The pieces are marked a U.S. size 12 and best fit a modern day size 6 - 8 with attention to the following measurements which were taken without stretching the fabric though there is plenty of stretch. For visual reference, the mannequin in the photographs is a size 4 and the pieces, especially the pants, were too big.
