About the Item
Circa 1830
England
Rare corset with cord embroidery worn by an elegant Georgian lady in England around 1825-1830. Cut with a large rounded neckline, flared at the hips, and laced at the back with brass eyelets. Base in unbleached cotton satin with corded embroidery equivalent to boutis and highlighted with absinthe green thread. Godet design on the chest, hips and vertical column at the front with scattered leaves. Embroidery lining in ecru cotton twill. Corset clean and washed, no stains or holes, one eyelet missing at the back, very slight wear at the armholes, only flaws to report. Very good colour and condition.
Dimensions: Equivalent to a 12-14 year old girl today. Shoulders 42 cm, waist 46 cm, chest 78 cm, height 48 cm, hips 88 cm.
