This rare pair of high-waisted technical shorts is a unique example of the experimental collaboration between Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Iceberg, dating from the late 1980s to early 1990s. Fusing utilitarian construction with bold color blocking and a sculptural silhouette, these shorts reflect Castelbajac's avant-garde vision and Iceberg's flair for sportswear innovation. The garment is crafted from a structured olive green cotton ripstop, featuring horizontal quilted stitching on the upper section that enhances the architectural form. Oversized patch pockets in contrasting tan and rust waterproof nylon are mounted over the base structure, creating a voluminous 3D cargo effect with asymmetrical zippers and functional detailing throughout. Gold-tone metal hardware, snap closures, and a branded Iceberg button complete the construction. The shorts are unlined, designed for lightweight functionality, and present an exceptional balance of design-forward aesthetics and utilitarian pragmatism.
