About the Item
An exquisite piece with a fascinating history from the personal archive of the designer, Anthony Ferrara. The fine ring mesh is 24kt gold plated brass made by premier manufacture of mesh, Whiting
Davis. This ingenious mesh is now only sold to Tiffany
Co. The tunic consist of two panels with over 400 rings cut one at a time from each panel.
The inspiration for this design came to Ferrara on a visit to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The BMFA’s Egyptian Collection featured the mummified remains of Nesmutaatneru dating 760–660 B.C. The woman is cloaked in a beaded antelope skin with an intricate slitting process that the designer implemented into the construction of this piece from the 1980’s.
This is truly a collectible and museum worthy piece.
