About the Item

Circa 1865 France or Russia Precious scarf in very fine silk woven with a lace pattern evoking Chantilly, which was very fashionable under the French Second Empire. The woven fichu is edged in a quarter on a copper-brushed background with a large central medallion decorated with seedlings. Four large bouquets au naturel are arranged in the corners on a background of black Chantilly lace. Hand-hemmed on two sides. Possibly made by a Russian manufacturer who have many fichus of this type in their documentation. Note a few pulled threads and small needle holes which do not affect the solidity of this shawl. No holes or stains. Good condition. Dimensions: 88 cm x 86 cm.
