About the Item

This 1960s dress suit ensemble has intricate detailing that really sets it apart - note the beautiful sunray pleating across the bust anchored by a rose formed from coordinating, mottled blue-green manmade chiffon. The high-neckline is typical of shift-dresses of this era and adds an easy elegance to the silhouette. This dress is fully lined in a high quality viscose type fabric, whereas the matching, lightweight jacket has a semi-sheer finish due to the fabric being the same as the chiffon overlay of the dress. The jacket ties nonchalantly at the neck, allowing the wearer to reveal the detail of the dress underneath. A hidden zip secures the rear. Unlabelled but made in France by a dress maker trained in couture techniques or who worked for a couture house; most of the seams and finishing is done by hand. This vibrant dress is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of note. Due to its age, it is unlabelled. This 1960s Tony Armstrong evening dress is cut in a classic and flattering column silhouette with a high rounded neckline and short, slightly capped sleeves. The front is very lightly embroidered with fine blue thread in a criss-cross pattern. This continues round to the back of the dress, where a concealed original metal zipper ensures a smooth and seamless fit. A pair of right and left darts to the front and back emphasises the waist. The fabric is a very fine quality peacock blue raw silk with a satin sheen to it whilst it is fully lined in a lilac coloured acetate. A best fit for around a UK 8-10 or US 4-6. Superb vintage condition and looks barely worn, we noted only a small area of discoloration to the lining near both the sleeve underarms but this is totally unseen when worn.
