About the Item

Besides his own designs, Dan Millstein made a name for himself recreating authorized renditions of French designers, most notably Balmain, Chanel and Balenciaga. This incredibly elegant adaptation of a Balenciaga consists of a classic navy blue wool gabardine skirt suit lined in scarlet red silk crepe accompanied by a coordinating shoulder drape. The jacket of the suit features a nipped wasp waist silhouette with a fabric covered button closure and pockets. The drape can be worn in a variety of ways to create various stylish looks and is accompanied by a matching straight pin. I love the regal look of adding a statement brooch such as the Eisenberg Original shown in photograph 4 (available in a separate listing). Originally retailed at Hytkens, an exclusive boutique located in Louisville Kentucky. CONDITION The jacket and drape are in excellent condition. The skirt has been altered to create a larger size and actually had to be pinned for the photographs. It appears that the waistband was removed and seams moved to enlarge. It is a rather simple shape so it might be possible to reverse the alteration. Additional photos are available upon request. SIZING MEASUREMENTS The size is not marked though the jacket best fits a U.S. size 4 and the altered skirt would fit sizes 8-10 (originally a size 4).
