About the Item
This ensemble includes: pants, jacket, chiffon blouse and vest. Pants are featured in a lavender velvet and have a lame quilted panel around the waist with a front zipper and hook fastening. Vest is reversible and has knotted button closures along the left side, bold shoulders, and lame quilting. Jacket is also reversible and has knotted buttons with a loop fastening. The ensemble is in very good vintage condition with some stains to the velvet and small pulls to the chiffon of the top at one of the shoulders. Normal wears due to normal use. See listed photos.
Kaisik Wong, a progressive clothing artist born in San Francisco, emerged on the creative scene in the early 1970's and was active until his death in 1990. His work, most of which was entirely handmade without any use of patterns, was a direct reflection of a time when folk art and DIY craft were at the forefront of grassroots artistic practices. Originally purchased from the legendary San Francisco art to wear boutique, Obiko.
