Please note: This is a spectacular suit! It was purchased in Europe by the orignal owner. (one of our favorite Fashionista clients). It was over $4500 (low estimate) when new.
One of the most beautiful and different suits from European Designer Louis Féraud. Made in Germany of a Italian textured metallic fabric with a vibrant modern art abstract print on oranges, red black and tans. We think the print looks very Warhol inspired. To make it even more luxe, the cuffs are a soft black fox fur! So chic! US size 10. The jacket has a beautiful paneled pleat at the hip for shape. Skirt (fully lined) measurements: 23” length. 31” waist.
Louis Féraud Bio:
Louis Féraud (1921-1999) was a French fashion designer and artist who became famous in the 1950s for his vibrant, bold designs that dressed the Parisian elite and celebrities like Brigitte Bardot. He opened his first boutique in Cannes in 1955 and presented his first haute couture collection in Paris in 1958. Féraud was also an accomplished painter and created perfumes, with his career spanning ready-to-wear, couture, and costume design, and he received numerous accolades, including the Golden Thimble Award.
Early life and career start: Born in Arles, France, Féraud initially worked as a ski instructor before moving to the French Riviera to open a boutique in Cannes in 1955.
Rise to fame: His career took off when Brigitte Bardot purchased a sun dress from his boutique, which led to him designing for her in many films. He soon opened a Paris boutique and dressed actresses like Kim Novak and Ingrid Bergman.
Design and artistic style: Féraud was known for his colorful and cheerful designs, often incorporating beadwork and embroidery. His work was heavily influenced by Provencal culture, post-impressionist art, and the ease of American sportswear.
Other ventures: Beyond clothing, he also launched several perfumes, including "Justine" in 1965 and "Corrida" for men, and designed costumes for films.
Awards and recognition: He received the Golden Thimble Award twice (in 1978 and 1984) and was decorated as an Officer of the French Legion of Honour in 1995.
Later life and legacy: In 1995, he retired and handed over control of the business to his daughter, Kiki. He died in December 1999 from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
