About the Item
Valerie Porr produced an eponymous line of quintessentially 1970s clothing, many of the styles based on the wrap silhouette, from her Soho loft that was retailed through her neighborhood shop and through boutiques around the country. This outfit, from the early '80s, is typical of her skill in combining colors and using tiers of fabric, here a washable polyester that looks and acts like silk. The wrap top has large puffed sleeves that narrow towards the wrist, a softly draped peplum, and a self tie. The skirt has four ruffled tiers in subdued contrasting colors and a flat hip panel of the same taupe as the top. Top: bust 34, waist 26. Skirt: waist 27, length 31.
