A rare three-piece vintage Rudi Gernreich knit ensemble from the 1970s, featuring a top, sash, and maxi skirt in black and gold metallic knit.
Gernreich—celebrated for his groundbreaking knitwear and his long collaboration with Harmon Knits from the late 1950s through the 1970s—created pieces that merged innovation with modernist style. This set is an excellent example of his signature design approach and can be worn as a full ensemble or styled as separates.
A collectible and hard-to-find Rudi Gernreich knit set—perfect for enthusiasts of 1970s fashion, avant-garde design, and iconic American sportswear. Note that the female model shown on image 2 and part of our video is AI generated and shown for styling inspiration.
Crafted from a shimmering black and gold metallic knit, the set is unlined and recently professionally dry cleaned. Dry clean only.
Condition: Preowned vintage (50+ years old) with signs of age and wear. Several holes noted across all three pieces—some through the top layer of knit, others fully through. Most are difficult to see when worn but are visible under close inspection (see last images). Despite these flaws, the set presents beautifully, especially considering its age and rarity.
