About the Item
Amazing and elegant carriage clock, sold by the historic Gran Bazar Parisién in Valladolid around the 1900s. The case features a simple and balanced design: a wide base, straight sides, and a top handle, typical of portable models. The front is distinguished by its finely embossed gilt brass frame with floral motifs, which highlights the white enameled dial. The inscription in the center reads, “Gran Bazar Parisien. Valladolid.” The Roman numerals, lance-shaped hands, and two subdials (the seconds hand and the regulator) are reminiscent of the early 20th-century Art Nouveau style. The movement is by Junghans, a German firm renowned for its solid and reliable mechanisms. The metal exhibits a light patina. It is a perfect piece for both watch collectors and lovers of historical interiors.
The Gran Bazar Parisien in Valladolid, founded in 1884, was located on the corner of San Francisco Street (now Ferrari Street) and Santiago Street. The business changed its name to Ambrosio Pérez, after the original founder. In 2024, the business closed, making way for a lingerie franchise.
