About the Item
Leather goods manufacturer Launer has created handbags in Britain since 1941. Granted a royal warrant in 1950, they were beloved by the late Queen Elizabeth II. This elegant clutch bag is from the 1980s or early 1990s and is tailored from smooth, hot pink silk with tonal stitching. It has a flap closure which is secured with a gold-tone magnetic clasp. A heavy gold curb chain is attached to the underside of the flap using two studs and two large gold-tone rings. Its placement means that it cannot be seen when tucked inside the bag, giving the option of using this piece as a clutch or as a shoulder bag. Inside, it is lined with cream leather and cream silk. There is one flap pocket and a pocket that closes with a tonal zip. The cream leather is stamped in gold ink with the royal crest and reads “By Appointment to H. M. The Queen - Manufacturers of Handbags - S. Launer
Co (London) LTD”.
This bag is in good to very good vintage condition with only light use noted and some very slight wear to the four bottom corners. Although a vintage model, this size and design is very similar to the current Launer Tosca model which retails for £1590 or $2000.
