About the Item

Eye-catching "Don't be like the rest of them, Darling!" up-cycled 1950s/1960s vintage handbag hand-painted by Lilli Grill. Talented Munich-based illustrator Ursula Baur alias Lilli Grill is the first artist I am happy to work together on this project. This handbag is number four of four one-of-a-kind handbags decorated by her. Love her imaginative and expressive fashion-savvy illustration art! Please have a look at our storefront for the other three designs. Lilli Grill designed the playful illustrations according to the shape, style and colour of this unique 1950s/1960s maroon leather handbag and painted them by hand with acrylic paint onto both outsides. The wearable artwork features a lovely group of three giraffes whose spots are held in hues of pink and match the ruby-red colour of the bag on one side, and the word "SAFARI" on the other side. Frame design. The body of the bag is beautifully set into the leather covered frame with a series of soft pleats. Single handle that runs diagonally across the top. One compartment with two flat side pockets. Gold tone metal push lock closure. Lined in a black moire fabric. Marked "Boscha", a German leather bags manufacturer established in 1927. Very well made! Excellent vintage condition. The slightest patina and scratching to the metal frame and closure. Clean interior. Please have a look at the pictures.
