It was composed by hand with a new font of Romain du Roi de corps 14 engraved by Grandjean in 1699 on the order of Louis XIV. The draw was completed on March 10, 1962 on the presses of the National Printing Press, Daniel Gibelin being director and Georges Arnoult inspector of typography. The original lithographies were drawn on the presses of Mourlot Freres. Justification for the draw, CC examples on velin d'Arches filigrane, "Albert Camus" numbered to the press from I to CC. Each of the six volumes includes, printed on Japon Nacre, a series of illustrations and an additional original lithography numbered and signed by the artist.
