Channeling the energy of “water-signs” in astrology, he captures these mysterious men thru a romantic lens. The embrace of the shadows and the light mixed with the gaze of their bodies. With the palms, he uses the texture and elongated shapes to emphasize the strength that comes from their infinite embrace.
The harsh lights and shadows in the warm Florida weather led Ricky Rocket to explore photography. The sharp and refined effect of these types of lighting conditions became a necessity to avoid studio environments. Self-taught, while photographing ballet dancers in the city of Miami he began to devote more time to the male form. Working with them outside of their safe space (rehearsal studio) and taking them outside, on sand or water, creating a dynamic that kept giving birth to new compositions. Inspired by the mythology of tarot culture and astrology, he has incorporated some of these elements throughout his work.

Ricky Cohete
Ricky Cohete est né dans une ville côtière de l'Équateur, mais il a surtout grandi à Miami. C'est la lumière de la Floride qui l'a incité à explorer la photographie. Artiste autodidacte, c'est en photographiant les danseurs de ballet de la ville de Miami que Cohete a commencé à consacrer plus de temps à la forme masculine. Inspiré par la mythologie de la culture du tarot et de l'astrologie, Cohete a incorporé certains de ces éléments dans son œuvre. Récemment, Cohete a auto-publié un livre de photographies comprenant de courts poèmes et des croquis, intitulé Blanco.
