Robert Motherwell Art (d après)
Américain, 1915-1991
Robert Motherwell (1915-1991) était un peintre et graveur américain de premier plan, associé au mouvement expressionniste abstrait. Né à Aberdeen, dans l'État de Washington, il a étudié à l'université de Stanford et a obtenu un doctorat en philosophie à Harvard. Gaines s'est fait connaître par sa série "Élégie à la République espagnole", qui reflète l'influence de la guerre civile espagnole par des coups de pinceau audacieux et gestuels. Au-delà de la peinture, il s'est lancé dans la lithographie, collaborant avec des maîtres imprimeurs pour produire des affiches très recherchées présentant ses formes abstraites et ses couleurs vives. Les contributions marquantes de Motherwell à l'art continuent d'inspirer les artistes et les collectionneurs du monde entier, consolidant son héritage dans les annales de l'expressionnisme abstrait.à
