Benito Huerta Art

Huerta est titulaire d'un B.F.A. de l'université de Houston et d'un M.A.I. de l'université d'État du Nouveau-Mexique. Il a été cofondateur, directeur exécutif et directeur émérite du conseil d'administration d'Art Lies, un journal d'art texan. Il est professeur à l'université du Texas à Arlington, où il est directeur/conservateur de la Gallery at UTA depuis 1997.
Son travail a fait l'objet d'une exposition personnelle, "Under Pressure : A Print Survey 1976-2018" à Kirk Hopper Fine Arts à Dallas au printemps 2019. D'autres expositions personnelles récentes ont été "Odd Ducks and Other Assorted Tales" à William Campbell Contemporary Art, "Entr'acte" à Reavley Gallery, Cole Art Center à Stephen F. Austin University. Huerta a également exposé au Houston Museum of African American Culture, au Wichita Falls Museum of Art, au Amon Carter Museum of American Art, à la Glassell Gallery, au Shaw Center for the Arts, à la Louisiana State University et à Baton Rouge, en Louisiane, au National Museum of Mexican Art à Chicago et au Ellen Noel Art Museum à Odessa, au Texas. Ses œuvres font partie de plusieurs collections de musées et d'entreprises à travers les États-Unis.
Huerta a reçu le prix et l'exposition "Legend of the Year" du Dallas Center for Contemporary Art en 2002 et a participé à la première exposition "Maestros Tejanos" en 2008 au Latino Cultural Center, à Dallas. Il a récemment réalisé un projet d'art public pour l'Université du Texas à Arlington, Signs of Life, qui a été installé en août 2019. Une autre œuvre récente est Urban Still Life, South Main Street project, Fort Worth installée en 2017. Parmi les autres projets d'art public réalisés, citons le Marine Creek Park Corridor Master Plan en 2014, à Fort Worth ; SnakePath (Mexican Milk Snake), Mexican American Cultural Center, Austin, Texas (2007) ; Wings, DFW International Terminal D Skylink terrazzo floor designs (2005) ; et Axis, Henry Gonzales Convention Center, San Antonio.
En tant que conservateur, il a récemment organisé une exposition de David McGee pour le Houston Museum of African American Culture, Houston et The Gallery at UTA, University of Texas at Arlington et de Cesar A. Martinez pour le National Museum of Mexican Art, Chicago. Il a également organisé des expositions d'études et de rétrospectives sur Mel Chin, John Hernandez, Luis Jimenez, Dalton Maroney et Celia Alvarez Munoz.à
