This exquisite vintage ladies wristwatch is powered by Patek Philippe celebrated caliber 8’¾ movement, a compact yet finely constructed manual-wind movement that represents Patek Philippe’s uncompromising standards even at the smallest scale. Patek designed the extremely high-grade movement to maintain very accurate timekeeping even across a wide range of temperatures, positions, and even amounts of power left (isochronism), something only the highest top tier of mens movements could do. It was virtually unheard of quality for a women's movement, except for some made by Patek Philippe and a few of the highest level ladies movements from a couple other top echelon manufacturers. It is one of the very few women's watches that is truly on par with the very top-tier of men's watches. The watch is fitted into a period-correct platinum and diamond and enamel set case of striking design. While the case is not believed to be original to Patek Philippe, it is absolutely correct to the era and fits the movement perfectly, both mechanically and aesthetically. The result is a watch that feels cohesive, intentional, and visually complete—an elegant marriage of one of the world’s finest movements with a case worthy of housing it. What makes this watch truly unforgettable on the wrist is its aesthetic presence. Its case is a miniature work of sculpture, swirling and tapering around the diagonally set dial with a rhythmic, almost architectural flow. Diamonds are meticulously set into the platinum, catching light at every angle. The design feels alive - dynamic rather than static - recalling the elegance and confidence of late Art Deco jewelry, where form, movement, and light were all part of the composition. It is not simply a small watch; it is a powerful one. Today, such a piece would exist only as a bespoke commission costing many times its price and requiring a team of specialists to replicate what master artisans once achieved as a matter of course. One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealership and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center and also has done authorized work for the Richemont brands including Cartier, Vacheron Constantin, IWC, JLC and others, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn parts with genuine Patek replacements, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $995 value). After more than a century, it is still running amazingly strong and true, keeping time essentially on par with a new Patek in our testing recording position. For the finishing touch, we have installed a new mesh band designed to replicate the look for the period making it ready for immediate enjoyment. Il n'est pas surprenant qu'une Patek Philippe détienne le record mondial de vente aux enchères pour une montre ( 31,2 millions de dollars pour une Patek Grandmaster Chime, vendue chez Christie's). Réputée pour son savoir-faire impeccable et ses garde-temps les plus compliqués jamais créés, la marque est considérée par beaucoup comme l'apogée de la haute horlogerie. Les collectionneurs aiment tout simplement Patek Philippe watches.

La maison a été fondée à Genève en 1839 par les expatriés polonais Antoni Patek et Franciszek Czapek. Czapek quitte l'entreprise et, en 1845, Patek s'associe à l'horloger français Jean Adrien Philippe. Ce fut le début d'une belle amitié.

S'adressant au gratin européen, le couple compte parmi ses clients Tolstoï, le pape Pie IX et la reine Victoria, ainsi que la comtesse Koscowicz de Hongrie, pour laquelle il crée la première montre-bracelet de fabrication suisse en 1868. Ils s'intéressaient également au marché américain et ont conclu en 1851 un accord avec Tiffany Co. qui est toujours en vigueur aujourd'hui.

Pendant la Grande Dépression, les frères Jean et Charles Stern, qui avaient déjà fourni des cadrans de montres à Patek Philippe, ont racheté l'entreprise, qui est toujours dirigée par la famille Stern aujourd'hui.

Sous les Stern, la maison a développé certains de ses modèles les plus célèbres, notamment la Calatrava, une montre habillée élégamment minimale introduite en 1932 et nommée d'après la croix de Calatrava (le logo de la société depuis 1887), et la Nautilus, la première montre de sport de la marque, conçue par le légendaire designer Gérald Genta en 1976.
