A hand carved wood wall mask, vintage from the 20th Century. African Folk Art.
Handmade and carved from a single piece of exotic wood, in a manner specific to traditional African art. Intricately carved with the traditional heart-shaped face and horns. Such ‘kpelie’ or ‘kodal masks’ are specific to the Senufo people and they are among the best-known mask types of Africa. They generally have a small, mask face with slit eyes, a narrow, curving nose and a small, strongly protruding mouth, with visible teeth. In a very good original condition, with a wonderful patina. A fantastic eye-catching Stand-alone accent piece.
