A rare and elegant wall mirror attribuited by Gio Ponti and produced in Italy in the 1950s, executed with the refined material language and technical mastery associated with Fontana Arte.
The mirror is framed by a sculptural brass structure, shaped with soft, fluid curves on all four sides — a distinctive Ponti hallmark, where architecture and decoration coexist with effortless balance. The brass elements act almost as drawn lines in space, giving the piece a light yet highly graphic presence.
At the center sits a circular mirror with a diameter of 20 cm, mounted on a pale Nile blue glass panel, a signature color frequently used by Fontana Arte during the period. The translucent glass creates depth and luminosity, subtly enhancing the reflective surface and elevating the overall composition.
A particularly striking detail is the original brass chain used for wall hanging, both functional and poetic, reinforcing the object’s refined lightness. Additional sinuous brass details on the sides articulate the frame, adding rhythm and a sense of movement that is unmistakably Ponti.
