This handcrafted bronze candelabra is a sculptural tribute to the quiet strength and unity of the African buffalo. Three candleholders rise from gently curving branches adorned with leaves, while below, a trio of buffalo stand grounded on a textured bronze base. Solid and enduring, the buffalo are symbolic of resilience, protection, and the unbreakable bonds of the herd. This piece merges the untamed spirit of nature with the refined tradition of candelabra, symbolizing balance between wilderness and civilization. It’s designed to cast a warm, dignifying light, making it a centerpiece that brings both a grounding energy and a spark of adventure to any room. Handcrafted and original – Every bronze piece is a one-off edition. Many of the smaller, intricate details are individually wax-modelled by hand - without the use of molds - ensuring each work is completely unique. Similar pieces can be commissioned in different patinas, sizes or with alternative or similar motifs, and can also be made as a pair. All bronze creations are handcrafted from start to finish - sculpted, cast, chased, and patinated - by myself. Using the lost wax method of bronzing, I cast each piece in my Black Dog Foundry and apply patinas individually by hand, making each finish subtly distinct. I am a self-taught South African artist whose work is inspired by Africa’s wildlife, landscapes, and people. My years as a safari guide gave me an intimate connection to the bush — a place that taught me everything I know about shape, form, and movement. You can’t sculpt what you don’t feel, and every moment spent observing wildlife offers a lesson in balance, grace, and presence. I am drawn to bronze — an ancient material with a living surface that changes, deepens, and gains character over time, much like the landscapes and creatures that inspire me. Each patina adds its own mood and individuality, ensuring every piece carries its own quiet story. My work ranges from bird, wildlife, figurative, abstract to African sculpture and bespoke sculptural furniture and lighting. Each piece is entirely handcrafted — sculpted, cast, chased, and patinated by me in my own foundry using the traditional lost-wax method. Every creation reflects Africa’s beauty, strength, and spirit — enduring in material and authentic in character.
