Kilim’s curation of classic flatweaves.
On the Design:
Emerging from the nomadic artistry of the Larkhabi region in Afghanistan, this piece is woven using the revered Soumak flatweave technique. This meticulous wrapping of the weft threads imparts a subtle, braided texture and sculptural depth, setting it apart from traditional kilims. The design is characterized by its elongated, rhythmic sequence of horizontal bands set against a deep field of espresso and warm charcoal. Prominent 'X' motifs alternate with traditional diamond lattices, creating a dynamic visual chant. The motifs are rendered in rich, dusty jewel tones, including hunter green, deep amethyst, and rust-red. The organic, undulating stripe edges authenticate its tribal heritage.
