On the Design:
Emerging from the nomadic artistry of the Larkhabi region in Afghanistan, this piece is woven using the revered Soumak flatweave technique. This meticulous wrapping of the weft threads imparts a subtle, braided texture and sculptural depth, setting it apart from traditional kilims. The design is dominated by a deep, rich chocolate brown field, punctuated by horizontal bands featuring striking diamond motifs that glow like luminous jewels in colors like fuchsia, emerald, sapphire, and gold. Inside these lattices, complex geometric patterns create a vibrant kaleidoscopic effect. The organic, undulating stripe edges authenticate its tribal heritage.
