This striking Antique Caucasian Kazak Rug is a classic, robust, and geometrically powerful tribal textile from the South Caucasus, dating to circa 1870. Measuring 138 x 224 cm (approx. 4'6" x 7'4"), its versatile size and dramatic, bold design make it a commanding focal point for any collector or sophisticated interior. The central field features a vibrant madder red ground, dominated by a vertical column of three large, distinct geometric diamond (lozenge) medallions. These monumental guls are rendered in striking, contrasting layers of deep navy blue, white, and teal, defined by prominent angular stepped outlines and complex latch-hook extensions. The field is sparsely filled with small, colorful geometric figures, highlighting the monumental scale of the primary medallions. The composition is framed by an exceptionally wide and energetic border system. The main border, set against a crisp cream/ivory ground, showcases repeating, large geometric cruciform (cross-shaped) motifs and latch-hook elements in red and blue, providing strong visual contrast.
