Pink Palace
This duplex apartment is located in a typical brownstone in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.
We created a very personal interior for a wonderful client, an art collecting entrepreneur.
Marilyn Minter s Fat Lip above the mantel started the project, as it was the piece the client had selected for this prominent location.
From there, we worked true to our client-centric approach, listening to the client s wishes.
Exposed brick walls remained just that, painted white.
The plaster walls were the considered for wallpaper.
Marilyn Minter s Goldkicker mural was installed opposite her Fat Lip and the entry door to the apartment was integrated in it via a custom gold leather and studded upholstered door.
We placed the Dining area within the bay window, created a custom banquette and found a wonderful and whimsical vintage Italian terracotta polychromed fruit basket as the base for a glass-topped dining table.
Nearby is a robot bar by Loxley Studio.
Art by Croydon Cowansage, Bianca Fields and others is thoughtfully installed throughout and we were particularly thrilled to commission Diego Cibelli for a site-specific piece, a white porcelain ceiling installation to remind in a modern way what likely would have been in place when the brownstone functioned as a family home and this was the parlor floor - an elaborate plaster crown molding.... the center of the ceiling features a custom Murano glass pink sunflower chandelier...
The Kitchen received a pink hue, the Powder Bath a Pin-up Lips wallpaper with matching fabric.
On the same floor is also the Principal Bedroom with a Voutsa wallpaper and custom matching fabric on the windows. The painting is by Scout Zabinski, lamps by Christopher Spitzmiller and custom embroidered Starfish-Chain shams from a capsule collection Harry designed for Holland House.
The downstairs Media Lounge features a mural by Artgroove depicting scenes from a favorite forest the client spend much time in, light fixture by Woka Lamps Vienna...
