About the Item
Very rare antique Vietnamese bronze Shiva. 6 inches tall, 7.25 inches on a custom stand. Has many Cham features. While he looks to have significant age, he does not appear to be a period (800 to 1000 years old) piece. My instincts and years of collecting (40+ collecting, 35 selling) strongly suggest a 17/18thC dating. Purchased many years ago from a westerner who married a Vietnamese woman and lived in Vietnam in the 1990s for several years and had acquired a wonderful group of uncommon Cambodian bronzes during his time there before returning to the states. This, in my opinion, was the best of the grouping.- Very rare- you would be hard-pressed to find another Cham-influenced bronze Shiva from this period anywhere. Wonderful face7903.
