About the Item
This drawer shelf from the Taisho period combines Japanese style with modernity.
This drawer shelf is particularly elaborate among those made in the Taisho period, and the complexity of its structure is reminiscent of temple and shrine architecture. The simple yet sophisticated design blends into modern spaces while still giving a strong sense of Japanese style.
The front panel is made of the finest horse chestnut wood, and is a rare gem with a unique "chijimi moku" grain. The rich wood grain deepens over time, creating a tasteful appearance.
It is finished with lacquer, giving it a sense of dignity and luxury. The handles are also left as they were at the time, giving it a finish that evokes history.
It has excellent storage capacity, making it ideal for organizing stationery, documents, and small items. It is compact yet has a strong presence, and while it blends naturally into the space, it also exudes its own unique charm.
It has been carefully restored by craftsmen and has been revived as a piece of furniture that should be passed down to the next generation.
*This antique is in good condition, but there are small scratches and slight distortions other than those shown in the detailed images.
