This is a scarce and lovely Japanese temple find gold gilt and lacquered wooden Crowned Kannon and Bodhisattva standing tall and holding a sutra box, which symbolically contains Buddhist scriptures. We acquired it from a large Japanese collection this past year from one of our many buying trips. Our Bodhisattva was hand-carved and hand gilt and then the head curls were finely painted with a gorgeous black glaze. Finally a Fine perforated cut metal jewelry like crown was added. Dimensions: 13 inches tall and 5 inches wide Possibilities: It would look perfect indoors in your special tokonoma, shrine, or mediation space.
