About the Item
A Japanese antique lacquered display stand dating from the 1920s–1940s.
The surface is finished in deep black urushi lacquer, softly worn over time to reveal traces of the red underlayer beneath.
These naturally emerging layers create a quiet depth and visual richness that speaks gently of age and use.
The stand was likely used to support objects such as candle holders or incense burners, serving as a modest yet dignified platform for ritual or daily contemplation.
One of the three legs shows a slight warp, though it remains stable and does not affect functionality.
The restrained form and subtle evidence of aging give the piece a calm, grounded presence suited to both display and atmospheric use within the interior.
Additional antique furniture and decorative objects sourced from across Japan are also available upon request.
