About the Item

Pair Of Ancient Asian Female Sculptures, indonesian figures from the late 1700s depicting two women made of hand-carved and lacquered wood with extensive color failures that give them period charm. Resting on an oval base, they are upright and are made of a single piece of wood with the joint of arms and forearms, of which the right one is missing. Both antique Asian art sculptures have a worn cotton bodice edged with trimmings. Hair is lacquered and gathered at the back. The outstretched arms seem to offer something on offer. The holes on the ears suggest the previous presence of earrings. Traces of blue on the legs, greenish gray on the body, the palms of the hands are dyed red, black in the eye outline these are the remaining polychromes of this fascinating finish. Craquelure and pigment oxidation suggest late 1700s. The two oriental sculptures are in fair condition, are stable but have shortcomings, chromatic losses and signs of wear compatible with the era. NOT SALEABLE INDIVIDUALLY: Height: 42.5 and 41 cm Width: 13.5 cm Depth: 13.5 cm The pair of oriental sculptures is shipped from Italy. According to Italian law, a government license called Belle Arti is required for the export of any antique object. Applying for and obtaining this license takes about 2 weeks to be added to the shipping time.
